Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin.

The Interactional Dyslexia Association identifies signs of dyslexia to include difficulty with:

  • Learning to speak
  • Learning letters and their sounds
  • Organizing written and spoken language
  • Memorizing number facts
  • Reading quickly enough to comprehend
  • Persisting with and comprehending longer reading assignments
  • Spelling
  • Learning a foreign language
  • Correctly doing math operations

I do not currently evaluate nor diagnosis dyslexia. I do conduct screeners and mastery checks to assess for individual needs. A diagnosis is not required to receive therapy or tutoring.

Since dyslexia is considered a learning disability and not a medical issue, most insurance companies do not provide coverage. I do not process insurance claims.

Dyslexia Therapy and tutoring follow explicit routines for teaching phonemic  awareness, decoding, fluency, oral language, comprehension, and composition. Mastery Checks are conducted frequently to assess proficiency levels of skills mastered.
